Online CE in North Carolina: Great for online learners: North Carolina allows any or all CE hours to be completed by self-study (with a passing post-test and certificate) — so Home Study Solutions can cover your full requirement.

Key North Carolina requirements & rules:

  • Any/all hours may be self-study (with post-test & certificate)
  • 1 hour — Substance Abuse / Mental Health (every 2 years, counts within the hours for dentists and hygienists)
  • 1 hour — Prescribing Controlled Substance (dentists only)
  • 6-hour professionalism and ethics course during their first required CE year (Dentists licensed after January 1, 2019, must take which counts toward the 15 annual hours. This course is offered by the NC Dental Society).
  • 2 hours — local anesthesia techniques, contraindcitios, medical emergencies related to local anesthesia (Dental Hygienists who administer local anesthetics )
  • Current CPR certification
