West Virginia dentists must complete 35 hours of continuing education and dental hygienists 20 hours, each every two years on a biennial cycle (reporting period February 1 to January 31 of even years, due February 1). Up to 80% of the hours may be self-study/online (about 28 of 35 hours for dentists and 16 of 20 for hygienists), with the remainder in-person/live. Dentists must include 3 hours on controlled-substance prescribing/opioid antagonists, and all licensees need 2 hours in a designated area such as infection control or substance abuse. NO CE Broker

CE is reported on a two-year cycle; the reporting period runs February 1 to January 31 even-numbered years and is due by February 1. New licensees complete their mandatory prescribing course within one year of licensure.
