Vermont dentists must complete 30 hours of board-approved CE and dental hygienists 18 hours during each 2-year (biennial) renewal cycle, which for both must include an emergency office procedures course (2-hour minimum) and CPR. There is no cap on self-study/distance education — all required hours may be completed by home study — though hygienists must earn 15 of their 18 hours in clinical or didactic subject areas, and dentists who prescribe controlled substances must include opioid-prescribing CE. Vermont does not specifically prohibit practice management courses, but Board rules require CE to be practice-related and from approved sponsors. There is no specific hour limit on practice management stated in the current rules. No CE Broker
Licenses run on a fixed 2-year (biennial) period set by the Office of Professional Regulation, with the expiration date printed on the license; no CE reporting is required at the first biennial renewal after initial licensure.
