South Carolina dentists must complete 28 hours of CE and dental hygienists 14 hours per two-year (biennial) renewal cycle, which runs concurrently with the odd-year license renewal. Up to half of the CE may be completed by home study/online — 14 hours for dentists and 7 hours for hygienists. At least 2 hours must be in sterilization and infection control, and the board uses CE Broker for CE tracking.
Licenses renew biennially in even-numbered years (renewal deadline around Dec 31st); the CE period runs concurrently with the two-year license cycle.
