Louisiana dentists must complete 30 hours of continuing education and dental hygienists 20 hours during each two-year (biennial) renewal period. For dentists, 20 hours must be personally attended and up to 10 may be online/correspondence self-study; for hygienists, 12 must be personally attended and up to 8 may be online/correspondence. Dentists also have a one-time 3-hour opioid management requirement, all licensees must maintain BLS certification, and CE is reported through CE Broker by December 31.
Licenses renew annually by December 31 depending on the year current license expires.
