Course Description:
Special needs patients are an underserved segment of our society. Examine certain physical and emotional disabilites as well as methods used to promote a more positive dental experience for patients with special needs. Identify oral complications associated with certain disabilities.
Course Objectives:
- Understand the incidence of the special needs population in the United States.
- Gain knowledge of certain types of disabilities that may be encountered in the dental office.
- Identify signs, symptoms and oral complications associated with various types of disabilities and ways to adjust treatment planning to promote better oral health and increased patient comfort.
